Applied to cigarettes and pot, it can be noted that cigarettes are easily controlled and taxable. Pot however, has many different strands that are difficult to distinguish and tax. You could make the argument that cigarettes are just as lethal (if not moreso) than pot, but the government just wants to make money any way it can, so it keeps cigarettes legal to tax it.
A second theory is that cigarettes are legal because their place in our culture is firmly established and accepted as a norm, although an increasingly politically incorrect norm. "Street drugs" have negative connotation, and while marijuana may not be as harmful as cocaine or heroin, it has the same negative connotation.
That's all I can come up with. Hope it helps.
The health implications of both tabacco and marijuana are bad. However, the effects of THC, Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol (the psychoactive chemical in marijuana), in your blood affects your thinking ability. Marijuana has a hallucengenic effect that can impair your judge and function. Cigarettes on the other hand, does not have those effects to your brain, but the long-term effects on your body is still very harmful. Because marijuana has this effect on the brain, the activities of the drug can cause people to do harmful things, not only onto themselves, but onto others as well (I.e. driving under the influcence or operating machinery while "stoned." Because of this, this substance is heavily regulated and illegal to use. Also, marijuana is considered an entry drug, which leads many others to use more potent drugs like Meth, Crack, or Heroin. With that said, I'm sure that the next question will be, then why isn't alcohol illegal, it's as addictive and can cause just as much damage. Ask me that question next time and I'll try to give you a good answer. Peace
5:25 AM) -=~* Mr. Cait *~=-:
Maybe its more 'brainwashing' of the school system
but theres a reason why its illegal here
(5:26 AM) Yannick:
only like the very heavy stuff is really harmful
but honestly if you start ding that
it's no longer experimenting
since you'd never start off with something heavy in the first place
you'd have to be doing some softer stuff for a while
(5:27 AM) Yannick:
obviously that's not ALWAYS the case
but yeah
but of course
schools are supposed to teach you it's VERY BAD
(5:28 AM) Yannick:
I found that schools exagerrate on stuff like that
so you won't do it because of the "risks"
that aren't half as bad as they make you think
(5:29 AM) Yannick:
for example
marijuana isn't even addicting
(5:30 AM) Yannick:
it's the tabacco that is addicting
and much more harmful
the only reason drugs are illigal is because it's not "socially accepted"
and regular cigs are
same with alcohol
(5:31 AM) Yannick:
those laws have nothing to do with how harmful it is ir whatever
(5:31 AM) -=~* Mr. Cait *~=-:
it should all be outlawed
(5:31 AM) Yannick:
because in the end cigs and alcohol are a lot more harmful than a lot of drugs out there
it should
but it isn't
(5:31 AM) -=~* Mr. Cait *~=-:
fuckin hate people
(5:32 AM) Yannick:
anyway my point was that someone who experimented with something at some point in there lives aren't always bad people =)
(5:33 AM) Yannick:
as long as it stays to just that, having experimented once
(5:38 AM) -=~* Mr. Cait *~=-:
I dont think there is anyway out of this big funny ass joke called my life >< that people shaped and i cant think for myself
(5:38 AM) Yannick:
? what
(5:39 AM) -=~* Mr. Cait *~=-:
every god damned thing burned into my brain is from school
god damned american school
(5:39 AM) Yannick:
yeah US school sucks
imo
(5:45 AM) Yannick:
but
fear not
for I am your new teacher?
(5:45 AM) -=~* Mr. Cait *~=-:
i duno how you can say that
ive been perminently fucked over
and theres no helping anything
(5:46 AM) Yannick:
how I can say what?
(5:46 AM) -=~* Mr. Cait *~=-:
"fear not"
Im not my own person, i cant think for myself, what I AM is the ideal student for a teacher, and nothing more
now that im out of school im just floating, i cant do anything im a complete waste of existance ><
(5:47 AM) Yannick:
no you're not actually
you may ot have known back then
but now that you're out of school, you're discovering things by yourself
(5:47 AM) -=~* Mr. Cait *~=-:
it doesnt matter, even new discoveries cant change whats been etched into my brain
(5:47 AM) Yannick:
there are VERY few people who come out of school just right
(5:48 AM) Yannick:
you're either "brainwashed" or do the exact opposite of what they tell you
but then you start learning about the real truths
and start shaping yourself for real
(5:48 AM) -=~* Mr. Cait *~=-:
i dont want to
(5:48 AM) Yannick:
which is why people "change" when they become adults
(5:48 AM) -=~* Mr. Cait *~=-:
i just want to
(5:49 AM) -=~* Mr. Cait *~=-:
frikin go away and not deal with anymore brainwashing ;-;
(5:49 AM) Yannick:
well it doesn't work that way I'm afraid
also don't run from the problems
it doesn't do anything than fuck up everyhing even more
(5:50 AM) Yannick:
I've done it too much myself
...So what is it?!? are drugs good? are they bad? Why does noone know the truth?
More importantly.. Who the hell am i?
I'm not Cait.. Im some PAWN that the school system created. They school wanted the student body to think /this way/ so I did. While hardly anyone believed them.
im such a huge failure at everything, I dont know what to do ><
I Dont know what to do, and I dont have any respectable adult to talk about it with ><<<<<<<<<<<<
*goes crazY*
wait i know what to do! get kleenexes!
THen i dont know what to do @.@>
*eats whiteface*
