"Watched Stranded (2001) It was one of those movies i was looking for awhile ago.
Crappy actors, super slow start, but has some interesting things in it.

Aleesa: Did you say one time that you had a sleep test done? I can't remember! I had one last night. It was horrible! I just wanted someone to share the known horribleness of it all. I felt like a robot in tons of wires! I don't know how they expect someone to sleep like they normally would in one of these tests.
Duelist Caitlin The one at the hospital? or the one at home?
Yeah, I cant sleep on my back at all, and I cant sleep when i feel weird, or when I have chest pains.
So i slept like.. for 20 mins :z
Aleesa I"m not sure what one. I can't remember :( I'm sorry! I had one at a sleep clinic today. It was like a doctor's office. They told me to sleep on my back for a bit like an hour before I was suppose to be done with the test, and I just layed there. I couldn't sleep on my back either. I hope they don't find anything :( But, i'm sure they probably will. I've been having weird stuff happen in my sleep. And I feel incredibly tired all of a sudden in the evenings sometimes. So badly that I almost feel weird from being so tired.
Duelist Caitlin To have "Apneas" when sleeping (Ie: Stop breathing) is 100% normal. (Look it up!)
But doctors these days like to exaggerate what is normal and what can hurt you. >_>
Unless you are waking up late at night gasping for breathe, I wouldn't worry about getting a stupid cpap machine.
Cuz you got to wear that giant mask or the thing that sticks up your nose.... and there's cold air blowing in your face at all times from the mask's vent....
And you got a giant tube attached to you at all time, so if you toss and turn, or face any direction but "Away from the bed" you're out of luck.
Oyeah, and it's expensive. Like 6000$ expensive (Without insurance)
I dont want to discourage you, but don't let them persuade you "so easily", that you have it "SO BAD" when you really don't.
Ive talked to a bunch of people, and like 90% of everyone that is "DIAGNOSED" doesn't sleep with the machine on, cuz it does more harm than good.
My doctor is all "OH MAN YOU R TEH KILLING YOURSELFS BY NOT WEARING IT, CUZ YOU ARE SLEEPINZ BUT NOT RESTINZ"
And my response? "With it on, im not sleeping OR resting, im laying there with cold air blasting in my face and i'm pissed off because I NEED A NAP, but i CANT SLEEP."
XD
Even sleeping pills didnt work. I woke up a couple hours later, and ripped it off in rage.
I had to wear a monitor with an SD card in it... when I did it, and they dont give you the program that shows the data of how many "APneas" you have.
I got the program separately... and during the couple hours i did sleep, was only like 1-2 apneas. so ONCE PER HOUR. Not the "OMG YOU STOP BREATHING 30 TIMES PER MINUTE" Like they were telling me.
</rant over> XD
Aleesa Whew! That was a lot of info! lol I would agree. I don't want to wear a mask/machine, especially at my age. I alo would agree that maybe they might exaggerate my problems; we'll see what they come back with. I just wonder if they might come back with anything other than sleep apnea. They tested for a whole host of things I guess. I think my insurance would cover the machine, but I don't think I would want it! I'll keep you updated :)
Duelist Caitlin blue cross blue shield pays for all of it but ~35$ per month for 11 months. So 385$ with insurance :z
Aleesa I have Blue Care Network - Same thing. So, I guess I would have to pay something.
Aleesa I got a letter back about my test. I still need to talk to someone! The letter says I have sleep apnea. It says my oxygen levels drop to 91% when I sleep and my AHI was a 7.4. I guess normal is 5 or less. So, from what i'm reading I have mild sleep apnea. From all the research i've done it seems the CPAP might not even help that much if a person has it mild. I have a second test with a cpap machine to see if it helps i guess. The sleep doctor when I went to the first appt where I just told her about what I was feeling looked at my throat and said the opening was small and she said that's what she thinks would cause the apnea. I'm just waiting to talk to the doctor to hear more.
Duelist Caitlin Ok - gooooooooooooood luck :) There's also something you can wear, thats similar to a mouth guard that helps hold your jaw "Up" and helps keep it open. THey dont tell you about that, cuz it's realy cheap (like $3)
I got one, but havent tried it out. Might be worth lookin into.

Aleesa Thanks! Good to know :) I'm a little upset with them right now. They are doing exactly what you said they would do.....push the machine. They only gave me a letter, and I called there asking to talk to someone about the results more. The lady on the phone told me, "Well, you have your next appt. with the cpap machine scheduled." She wondered why I was calling! I told her I expected to discuss this with the doctor more, and then I said I remembered in the beginng someone telling me after the two sleep tests were done I would talk to the doctor about the results. The lady on the phone says, "The meeting with the doctor is after 3 months of being on the CPAP machine to see how your doing. We will order the machine for use after your second sleep study." Yeah, i'm pretty upset. They want to put me on and order the frickin' machine immediately. From what the letter says I only have mild sleep apnea. I don't want a machine to be on me all night :( I would live my life feeling like I was 80 everyday! I'll ask the doctor about this device you showed me so maybe I can get one. It sounds much better :)
Duelist Caitlin Lol see, They are trying to order it BEFORE THEY EVEN DO THE 2ND STUDY!! they dont care if you do better or not on the machine. They want you to have it anyway, since it's money in their pocket.

Aleesa I don't trust them either! I can't believe this :( Argg!!! Well, i take that back. I guess I can believe it. But, still I don't want to! lol

(So if it's just on without you breathing into it, it knows and doesnt record the time xD - Believe me, i've tried.)
And you take the SD card to the doctor so he can read the data.
My doctor said he didnt know what to even do with it -__-.
Good Luck!
Aleesa OMG. I'm NOT getting it!!! Thank you for telling me all of this! :) I wouldn't have known otherwise.
Duelist Caitlin For me, anyway, you can do the 2nd sleep study (With the mask) and see if it helps at all. Might be worth that much.. Since youve gone this far already... and you're not committed to buying the machine till you go to the place to buy it (Like airway oxygen / other medical supply stores)
If for some reason you ever wanna try otherwise.... xD If you get a separate mask, you can borrow my machine (or sometimes you see them at garage sales)
Aleesa I will do the second study just to see if I do sleep a ton better. Although, I never really felt like I had too many problems sleeping. I could sleep ALL THE TIME!!! lol Just acting out dreams mostly. The problems I noticed have been feeling really tired during the day, all of a sudden tiredness, and possibly chest pains (not sure if the chest pains are associated with this or not). I just hope this place i'm going to didn't already order the machine. I'm not sure how that works. I need to talk to them so they know not to order it.

Aleesa Gosh. That's terrible! How did they even know or could tell that you had wore it for 4 hours and 1 minute? Is there some kind of a timer on it or something? If not, I would have just told them I did and not wore it at all. Now, i'm starting to wonder if I should have read over the paperwork I signed because i'm wondering if I maybe gave them authority to order it if they found have sleep apnea? Bc if this is the case where I have to wear it or else it's not covered, then I definately will NOT get the machine. I don't want to be forced to wear something that if I don't i'm out a crap ton of money.

I don't want to be forced to wear something that if I don't i'm out a crap ton of money.
Duelist Caitlin There's a computer inside that reads a time of how long it's recording data..
