Why the weather channel sucks

I know it's over-reported.. But the Malaysian plane thing. "Noone survived".
How could they know that? Did they ever consider maybe someone floated to an island somewhere and are awaiting rescue? Or maybe floating on some drifting pieces?
Till they find the plane and search ALL surrounding islands and/or find bodies.
They shouldn't stop.
Just my opinion.
