My basic experience at walmart
Aug. 10th, 2009 05:36 pmI just joined last may, so i remember mine clearly. lol.
I first applied (with that 20 page questionaire thing) in early 2007, but noone called me back. I applied again and again, then finally in November 2007, I SPECIFICALLY called them back and said "hey, whats going on?" Then they said "Oh ok, lets do an interview" they never told me for what position or anything. So i go in and do the interview, they asked a bunch of things such as "how have you worked with others in the past" and whatever... So I pretty much told them about a bunch of stuff in school..
They sent me for a drug test.. Then i came back later for job offer form (they eventually told me at this point it was for cashier!) and said orientation would prolly be on saturday, and theyd call me w/ details
Monday rolled around, i called them and asked what the heck was going on. They said "Oh sorry we cant hire due to low sales!" ..were they planning on ever TELLING ME? I waited all day saturday.
A month later they called me and said "sorry we cant hire due to low sales" Yeah i know, i called you that monday + found out. Were they planning on waiting a WHOLE MONTH to tell me?
anyway, so i applied again in April, called them back in may and said "HEY WHATS GOIN ON?" they said "oh ok come in for an interview" so i did. drug test. job offer. same as last time. They said "We're still waiting on a background check for someone we'll call you later" They called me later for orientation. I went. They forgot i was waiting. They had a walmart meeting while i was waiting. After it was done i went in the back and said "ok whats going on?" they said "Oh sorry we forgot about you" NICE. i was REAL IMPRESSED With walmart at this point :/
Well i did orientation.. got a job as domestics zoner. At first i hated it.. they diddnt tell me what to do or responsibilities or anything.. Luckily the fabrics lady was amazing shes helped so much. I look forward to the days we work together.
2 months later, I enjoy working, they say im the best zoner, and that im talked about a ton among management, lol.
Theyre shifting me around to fabrics + hardware though =( I dont wanna leave domestics! :P Fabrics is fun, but freight is not so much. Plus i dont get to work with fabrics lady T_T
