I DEMAND OUR MONEY BOX BACK >:/
Oct. 13th, 2010 02:23 pmHi, i know you guys deal with labor laws, but im not sure where else to ask... maybe you guys know ^_^
I work at walmart and i'm a sales associate on the floor, but im friends with the people who unload the truck. They got approved to have water back there (as its a strenuous job, so they need to stay hydrated)
So the guy who physically unloads the truck bought one of those gatorade dispensers and put it back there for everyone to get the water out of.
They were allowed to get water from the filtered water spout that the customers get it from and "Store use" it (so that the inventory stays correct)
But they didn't get approved to "Store use" cups or ice for their water.... So the guy who unloads the truck just buys cups and ice for everyone...
To compensate for the cost, we set up a bucket in the breakroom for all the people in the backroom to put their pop cans in to help fund the cups and ice...
This went on fine for some time, and noone cared.. but then our cans from that bucket started going missing... Then eventually the bucket was gone.
So we set up a box instead... Then THOSE cans went missing.. and eventually on the box someone wrote "this is not allowed please see store manager with questions."
I dont get that, they say that putting the pop cans in the WALMART Fund can-return is "Optional + appreciated".. yet we're not allowed to collect and take the cans for ourself? Its not like we're taking the cans already IN the walmart fund can-return.
Yet other people are allowed to have physical money dollar donation boxes... and pop can tab donations..
and we cant have our cans to pay for something that the store should provide anyway??
Is there some law against this? I feel discriminated against because the lady with cancer gets her donation box, the other lady with cancer gets HER donation can, and yet the perfectly healthy people trying to stay hydrated arent allowed a donation box...
I dont really want to ask the store manager about the situation because she might take EVERYONEs donation boxes away PLUS not even allow us to have the water in the backroom AT ALL, which would be an ass-hole move.
I've learned all too much from school that if 1 person "screws up" it generally ruins it for everyone.
So I figured I'd ask a 3rd party...
Thanks for any input!
